I know, eveybody knows the Beatles, everybody loves them (well, most do), everybody shares them,... they're the most iconic group ever so why would I want to add to all this? What's the point drawing attention to what everybody is more than aware of already? The answer is that in reality people don't know (or don't know any-more). Beatles still get airplay and whenever there is an opportunity record companies will try to cash in on e.g. 50 years of Sgt. Peppers. But in reality I always hear the same 20 or so songs out of the huge legacy the Beatles left us. Why? Well, because that's the way the business works. It isn't about quality (which of course whatever they promote has) but about selling the same cash crops over and over again. So here's one of my favourite songs which I seldom hear on air, this time by two of the greatest Beatle-fans. In the case of Jeff Lynne, he's arguably the most important musician that kept the Beatles sound alive over the last (almost) 5 decades. I know, the original is even better but this is such a meaningfull tribute.
